Crush Music/Atlantic RecordsWeezer's cover of a-ha's "Take on Me" now has an official video.
The clip, streaming now on YouTube, stars Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard as a young, mullet-sporting Rivers Cuomo as he jams the '80s classic with his friends, played by Wolfhard's real-life band, Calpurnia. In between, the scene morphs into the signature rotoscoping animation from the original "Take on Me" video.
"This video was an absolute blast to film and I'm so excited for everyone to see it," says Wolfhard in a statement. "Calpurnia has covered Weezer in the past and I'm really honored that they asked us to do this."
Weezer super-fans may also notice that the drum kit in the video has the phrase "Avant Garde" on it, which was the name of one of Cuomo's first bands.
The "Take on Me" cover is included on Weezer's new Teal Album, a whole collection of covers that was surprise-released in January. The record also includes renditions of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid," TLC's "No Scrubs" and, of course, Toto's "Africa."
